BSN Degree at PHSSN

BSN Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) Degree

Pre-nursing students will complete the general education core at one of our two consortium universities. After completion, an application will be submitted to PHSSN. As a member of the PHSSN family, you will join a cohort of students from either Hardin-Simmons or McMurry universities who, like you, have been accepted into the nursing program to complete the final two years of their nursing education. On your journey to becoming a Registered Nurse, all students will have the opportunity to experience an introduction to nursing in some of the area’s premier healthcare agencies. Our partnerships with various communities of interest and numerous nursing specialties will expose you to a wealth of knowledge and expertise.

BSN Admissions Requirements

All applicants must complete the Application Process, which will then be reviewed by the PHSSN Admissions Committee to determine if students meet the following requirements:
  • Cumulative grade point average (GPA) must be a minimum of a 3.00 on a 4.00 scale
  • Completion of all nursing prerequisite courses with a letter grade of ‘C’ or higher (Letter grade of less than ‘C’ will not be accepted toward Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree)
  • Course Exception: Students must complete the required Anatomy & Physiology, and Microbiology courses with a grade of at least ‘B’ before admission to PHSSN
  • Students are also required to take a Nursing Entrance Exam
  • All general education requirements and courses towards a minor must be completed prior to enrollment in the nursing program. (HSU Degree Plan and McM Degree Plan)

BSN Application Instructions

All applicants applying to the Bachelor of Science in Nursing Program (BSN) must be enrolled in one of the consortium universities. Listed below are additional specifications for applying to the nursing program:

  • Two academic / professional references required upon request.
  • Additional information may be requested by the admissions committee.
  • Completion of HESI A2 Entrance Exam including Critical Thinking. Click here for sign up.

Apply through Hardin-Simmons University or McMurry University if seeking initial admission to the pre-licensure BSN, and you are not currently enrolled at McMurry or Hardin Simmons.
If you are currently completing your last semester of general education requirements at either McMurry University or Hardin Simmons University, the application for the BSN program may be completed through NursingCAS. Your pre-nursing advisor and PHSSN can also provide guidance to determine if you are ready to apply to the program.
