A group of Patty Hanks Shelton School of Nursing (PHSSN) students attended the 2019 American Association of Colleges of Nursing (AACN) Student Policy Summit in Washington, DC. Together with Dean Sheila Garland and Professor Pam McCullough, the juniors and seniors joined nursing students from across the country March 24-26, 2019. AACN hosted didactic program sessions focused on the federal policy process and nursing’s role in professional advocacy. The PHSSN student attendees had the opportunity to learn the importance of being a voice for the nursing profession as well as participate in establishing and securing grant monies for research, education, and professional development for nurses.
