PHSSN OFFICIALLY ANNOUNCES 100% FIRST-TIME NCLEX PASSRATE
Patty Hanks Shelton School of Nursing Starts the New Year Off with Record Success
As our community continues to face the largest healthcare battle in our lifetime, with the COVID-19 pandemic, it is even more important; that we are preparing future healthcare professionals with the best training possible to prepare them for what they will encounter in a clinical setting.Patty Hanks Shelton School of Nursing (PHSSN) is doing just that by graduating highly qualified BSN nurses. PHSSN achieved a 100% first-time pass rate on the 2020 National Council Licensure Examination (NCLEX) amid a pandemic. This school of nursing is 1 of only 5 Texas Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) programs out of 50 to achieve this accomplishment. In addition, PHSSN is 1 of 9 of the 123 combined Texas BSN and Associate Degree Nursing (ADN) programs to achieve this ranking. From 2017 to 2019 the PHSSN NCLEX pass rate has been greater than 90% for first-time testing which is above state and national standard.The NCLEX is an exam nursing students must pass to receive their nursing license. This license is granted by the state board and allows the registered nurse to practice in the state where the license was issued or any state that has a compact agreement with Texas.
